Why Blog...

I'm not sure what the point of a blog is if nobody can access it or read it. My friend Jon, he disagrees. He apparently has a blog, but none of us who know him and love him have any access. I don't get it. Jon let us in!

How safe are we really...

I am sitting at the Airport in Columbus, Ohio. My flight will begin to board in just about an hour and as I was getting to the gate I noticed a couple of things that brought a certain level of concern to my person. I share these things with you now...

1. For those of you who know me, picture me. For those of you who do not know me, I am a pretty big guy. I stand just shy of 6 ft. I weigh in at a healthy 285. I currently have a buzzed hair cut and am adorned with three 10 gage surgical steel hoops in each ear as well as multiple tattoos. I paint this picture to tell you this, I carry a fair amount of electronics with me on flights and get stopped and searched on a fairly regular basis. the guy behind me in teh security line, is about 70 years old, stands maybe 5 feet tall, (although he doesn't actually stand straight at all) and is maybe 100 lbs. soaking wet, with bricks in his pockets. He is also carrying tote bag. As I passed through security, (with no incident I might add), the TSA rep pulls grandpa out of line and tells him that they need to do a random security check and would he mind. He gracefully accepts the invitation to be scanned as well as the three things in his tote gone through. Here is my question...Why in the world are they searching this poor guy. Now don't get me wrong, I appreciated the pass. I just wonder what TSA saw in this guy that apparently the other three hundred of us going through the gate missed. Those TSA guys are good!

2. As I was washing my hands just outside my flight gate after my obligitory pre flight stop I noticed a red plastic canister on the wall. As I turned to look at it, I noticed the following words...

"This container for Syringes and Bio-Hazardous waste only."

Now, If I am not mistaken, these are the same things that they check for at the security gate, were TSA in Columbus spends most of it's time patting down our grandparents. Not that I think you should carry Syringes or Bio Hazardous materials on flights, but that fact that there is a receptical inside the gate suggests that it is at the very least a possibility.

Should I be worried? Probably not. I'll bet the TSA has a much better handle on this than I think.

It's Cold in Columbus...

There is really nothing else to say. The 1.75 minute drive from the Airport to the Hotel was nice. I am still waiting to see if people smile. So far the nicest person has been the girl at Enterprise rent a car. But I gave her $139.00. So I think she may have been smiling at something else. Can't wait to get back.

On the road again...

Well, It is Valentine's Day and I am at the Portland Airport waiting to fly to Columbus, Ohio. I will be interviewing some folks from Faith Mission. I will not be home to celebrate Vantines Day with my wife or daughter, although we had a great time this morning.
You know as much as I dig the new job and honestly as much as I like to travel, I don't like being away from Mar or Abby. That part sucks. Oh well. Nothing I can do about that now, off to Columbus!

A lot has happened...

I realized that I have been so crazy the last few weeks that I have neglected the wide world of blogging! So just to catch up, I have switched jobs, I have taken two road trips, been dissappointed by the Superbowl, caught up on bills and am currently in the tail end of a Radio Thon. Whew! That makes me tired just writing it. Well, things are crazy, but great. I love the way life has prepared me for new things and I love the way that those new things have presented themselves. I am tired, but needed to check in so here it is. I will write more with a little more clarity later.
